But it does not really improve his hearing. I tried it myself and could hear that the sound got amplified but so did AMBIENT NOISE. The feedback was quite bad that I could hear my own breathing. It's difficult to conduct a normal conversation wearing this device.

Nexear 200 AFC Digital Hearing Aid Review

(More customer reviews)This is my fourth hearing aid, having had a few mishaps in the past. However, this one is far and away the best of all of them. The sound is excellent and though the battery is smaller that the others I have encountered, it still lasts about a week.
My hearing is terrible when there is background noise and this works very well, amplifying close by sounds, especially voices so I can hear them clearly instead of constantly asking people to repeat what they said.
It also has a small tag which helps to pull the hearing aid out of your ear which is pretty handy. I wholeheartedly recommend this product, especially to those like me who cannot hear well when in an environment with a noisy background!

I was pleasantly surprised by how well they worked! They are slightly uncomfortable (especially compared to my personally-molded hearing aids) but more than worth the price! They do amplify ALL sound and cannot "cancel out" ambient noise like digital hearing aids can. But they work beautifully for me!
Word to the wise: these are AMPLIFIERS, not hearing aids. My husband wanted to try it on and was quite surprised at the difference in sound through the amplifier. It sounds the same as my first experience with an aid; it seems as if everything you're hearing is coming through a microphone.

The over the ear type with the tubes work ok, and might even be better than the mini-canal type, for me as they are unobtrusive and seem to amplify only the higher freqencies.

I bought it for my 91 year old mother-in-law on the recommendation of my sister who is a counselor for the hearing impaired. When the Whisper was delivered, it was damaged, but the company was very apologetic and quickly sent a replacement. At first, my mother-in-law had a little problem adjusting to the device being in her ear, but when she got used to wearing it, she was amazed at how well it improved her hearing. However, there are two problems she has with the device. First, her vision is poor and she cannot charge it every day by herself (she cannot see how to fit the Whisper into the charger). She lives in an assisted living facility and the women that come to assist her do not want to be bothered with charging it for her. Second, she does not have a problem if she is by herself in her room listening to the radio or TV, but she cannot wear it in certain places (like the dining room) because the amplified sounds of people conversing at her table and the surrounding tables are too much for her to bear. Don't get me wrong. The Whisper can be very beneficial if it is used by someone who is capable of charging it every day by himself/herself and uses it for listening to TV or radio or having a conversation where everyone isn't talking at once.

I'm not that deaf, but I miss consonents quite a bit, but this makes sounds definitely louder, and in the higher range, where I need it. I've tried regular cutting edge hearing aids that are computer regulated to match my specific hearing loss, but my trial only lasted a few days because I was bothered by the creaking of the floors and the clattering of dishes and tableware, which I did not hear before. With my Medicare discount they still cost me a few thousand out of pocket for a five thousand dollar item, and this is only $400 and you don't have to change batteries. It took a while to get the charger to work, as you have to insert it in place very carefully and precisely, but once I got it charged overnight, it fit into my ear OK and amplified OK, and I could adjust the volume myself instead of having to go to the audiologist and have it adjusted with a computer. I only bought one hearing aid, not two, and am in process of trying it out. So far I used it at a play, where I often miss the words, but this time I missed fewer words and felt better about the experience. It is frustrating when the rest of the audience is laughing at a joke, and I miss it, time and time again!

(More customer reviews)This is a great product. I first used it when my Mother was hospitalized and the hospital loaned us one. It worked so well that I purchased one. We don't use it all the time but when I want to have a lengthy serious conversation or when I read to my mother it saves a lot of aggravation all around. It minimizes repetition on our part and confusion on her part. It really is a wonderful product. You may be able to do it with a cheaper product but I think the quality of this product is worth the extra expense. Tip: If the intended user has hearing aides, either get the version with headphones or get a mono to stereo adapter and avoid the ear bud version so that you can slip them off and on without messing with removing the aides.

FDA Approved Facelake Rechargeable Hearing Aid Review

(More customer reviews)This product helped a relative with his hearing, but lasted 4 days. After the fourth day the product would not charge. The charger takes an AA battery, as a backup, also has a wall charger and a small (watch type) battery in the hearing aid. I did change both batteries out and recharge but still no luck getting the item to charge. After many emails with the product company I finally was approved to send it back for a return, it's been almost 2 weeks since I returned it, haven't heard anything back. I think this hearing aid would be a great item if only they changed to way the ear piece connects inside the case to charge. Inside the case there are to thin wire connectors (like positive and negative) that the piece sits in when you need to charge it. The issue with the way this is set up is that those 2 wire prongs on the inside are so frail they will bend and not make a contact. You may think they can be adjusted, not so! Because of the minimal amount of room and how small the wire prongs are its impossible to do, and if you try and break one, you void the warranty. If you open it up (the charging system) you void the warranty.
As for customer service. I searched on the company website for a phone number but there is none that I could find. The email traffic was hit and miss. I could email on a Monday but not receive a reply back until Thursday.
I hope that soon my replacement will come and I can write another review.

(More customer reviews)I am deaf in one ear and have severe hearing loss in the other. My condition is getting worse with time. I have worn hearing aids for fifteen years. For seven years, I have worn a very expensive state of the art aid. I was becoming increasingly frustrated with the inability to hear. I sent the aid in to get it rebuilt and then had it reprogramed to be sure it was in optimal condition. There was little improvement and a $200 bill. I tried another new top of the line hearing aid. It was no help. I decided to order an Acoustitone Pro so I would have a back up. I cannot be without a hearing aid. I was immediately impressed with the Acoustitone and have been wearing it ever since it came. It is better than anything I have tried. I just ordered another one as a back up as I do not want to have to go back to the expensive aid. The expensive aid may have some advantage in certain situations, but overall it is not as good. I wear my own ear mold as the ones that come with the aid made my ear sore. They did, however, work better than my custom ear mold. The problem may be my ear or it might just be a matter of getting used to it. I would caution anyone who has never worn a hearing aid, that there is no such thing as an aid that will restore your natural hearing. If you ever find such a thing, I would be willing to pay dear for it. A hearing aid is like a flashlight. It is terribly inadequate, but indispensable in the dark. All it did was make a loud whooshing background noise through the earbuds - no noticable amplification.
