Atomic Alarm Clock Review

Atomic Alarm Clock

Seiko Talking Atomic Clock and Calendar:
This is an excellent talking clock with atomic (auto-setting) feature. My mother is legally blind and this is a wonderful aid for her. I'm buying a second one today so she'll have one by her bed and one by her living room chair. Now she won't need to move it back and forth. The clock speaks the time clearly (one push of bar) and will also give day of week and date (push twice). I recommend it to anyone.

Sonic Boom SBB500ss Sonic Bomb Loud Plus Vibrating Alarm Clock Review

Sonic Boom SBB500ss Sonic Bomb Loud Plus Vibrating Alarm Clock

(More customer reviews)
I've had a history of sleeping through alarm clocks. This past summer I lived with a few other people and they would come into my room in the morning and yell at me, because my old alarm would wake them up but I would sleep through it, despite the fact that it was positioned right next to my head.
While I do not believe this alarm reaches 113 decibels or that it is louder than a jackhammer, I will say that it is much louder than your standard alarm clock. The vibrator works very well and is guaranteed to wake up even the deepest of sleepers. You can put it under your mattress, which will cause the majority of it to vibrate, or you can place it against a solid object which will cause a loud vibrating noise. I opted to keep mine under my mattress.
Many people have posted that their units burned out or that it kept time incorrectly. This is because they failed to look at the directions. In the directions that come with the alarm clock there is information detailing a switch on the backside of the unit. It is labeled 24hrs 50hz, 12hrs 50hz, and 12hrs 60hz. This switch not only controls the time format(12 hour vs. 24 hour), but also controls the tuning of the internal electronics. In European countries, 24 hour time format is standard, and wall outlets alternating current runs at a frequency of 50hz. In America, most people use the 12 hour time format, and our electrical outlets operate at a frequency of 60hz. What this means is that if you have this switch in the wrong position, you run the chance of damaging your unit, and you will notice that the time will not be accurate(it says this in the manual).
The only thing that keeps this alarm from getting five stars is the face that I can't use the 24 hour time format. I live in the US but work on a military base and have become accustomed to the 24 hour time format.
tldr; This alarm will wake you up, just make sure to read the manual or you run the risk of incorrect time and a fried alarm clock.

Talking Time, Month and Date Alarm Clock Review

Talking Time, Month and Date Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased two of these clocks at different times, one for myself and then one for my grandmother, who has macular degeneration and absolutely loves this clock. Although the previous clocks aren't branded "Reizen", they're identical to this one. I'm buying another one for my grandmother so that she can have one in her bedroom as well as her kitchen.
This is a great clock, even for those with normal vision, but especially great for those with low vision or the blind. One tap on the big top button that runs the length of the clock speaks the time in a pleasant and very understandable British female voice, and a second tap speaks the date. There are no tiny extraneous buttons to accidentally push, which is important for low-vision users and a serious flaw in many other similar clocks.
There's an option for speaking the time on the hour. The time and date are set automatically according to the time broadcast from the NIST government clock in Colorado, so there's no need to fool with it when the time changes. The functions all make sense and are very easy to set, and the alarm setting as well as other other features are confirmed by voice. The clock uses AA batteries that last a long time, at least two years under normal use and they are simple to change.
The single lacking feature is a backlight, which would be nice for night table alarm clock use.

Sonic Alert SBP100 Sonic Boom Portable Vibrating Alarm Clock Review

After reading all the reviews for this alarm, I figured that this would be the best thing for my 14 year old son. He has such a hard time waking up in the morning. We even tried holding one of those alarms that have the two bells on top that clank over his head and that did not wake him up. The first morning he used this alarm, he tossed a little and started to wake up but the vibrations stopped after only one minute. That definitely is not long enough to wake someone up. I contacted Sonic Alert and asked them about this and they said the vibration only lasts for one minute because the clock runs on batteries. I told the customer service agent that was not long enough to wake someone up and she suggested that I try one of the other models that run on electricity since the vibrations will go on until you actually get up and shut off the alarm. I am returning this one to Amazon and have ordered one of the other Sonic Alert models. I also made sure to get the extension cord for the vibrator so the alarm clock can be placed as far away from my son forcing him to get up out of bed to shut it off.

Sonic Alert SBT425ss Digital Sonic Boom Loud Vibrating Alarm Clock with Telephone Signaler Review

Sonic Alert SBT425ss Digital Sonic Boom Loud Vibrating Alarm Clock with Telephone Signaler

I bought this for my wife who is a very heavy sleeper and who's actually lost a couple jobs from not being able to wake up in the morning in time. She's not deaf or anything, but she can totally sleep through a 'loud' alarm clock.
The buzzer:
I bought this based on the descriptions and other reviews of the several different models of this clock which made it sound very LOUD (wake the neighbors-type loud) which I hoped would be enough to startle her out of sleep. Unfortunately, this isn't noticeably louder than many other clocks I've had. My first impression of the buzzer was "That's IT?!" It has an adjustable tone which is neat, but still that doesn't make it any louder and only slightly more annoying. My wife wasn't impressed with the volume either. While adjusting it we didn't even have to really raise our voices over it to hear each other.
The vibrator:
This is the part that I'm counting on to wake her up. It's pretty strong and I'm surprised that something so small can shake so violently. If you put it in the pillow that you're using it's liable to cause brain damage after a while, but if you push your pillow more than a few inches away -or grab another pillow- it's useless. It works pretty good in between the mattress's though even though we have a pretty thick mattress on top. It won't rattle your teeth that way, but it should be enough to wake her up after just a minute or two.
The construction doesn't feel any better or worse than most clocks to me and it's easy enough to figure out how to set and use. I would have given it a higher star rating had it of just been louder.

Sonic Boom Alarm Clock Review

Sonic Boom Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I was a kid, I could set the alarm on my watch, and it would wake me up. When I was in my 20s, a clock radio would do. Now that I'm in my late 30s, I'm finding even three or four clock radios ineffective - they just irritate me instead of convincing my to get up, and then I get mad, and then the morning is shot.
This clock seems to have been made for deaf, or near deaf folks. It has both audible and vibration alarm modes, and you can have one or the other or both. The audible alarm has both a volume and a pitch adjustment. You can set it high and squeeky, or kind of the annoying mid-range tone you're more used to hearing from an electronic alarm, or anywhere in between. That's kind of a unique feature all by itself, and I'm sure it's intended for folks that can only hear in a certain range of tones.
WARNING: this clock can be LOUD. I would be considered a person with normal hearing, and the volume on this thing at level 8 is PAINFULLY loud. WAY louder than other clocks that may claim to be the "world's loudest alarm". When this thing came out of the box, the volume was set on 8, and when I plugged it in and was setting the time, the alarm went off unexpectedly, and my ears HURT afterwards. I've never heard it on 10, and I never want to. 2 or 3 is about as loud as a normal alarm clock.
However, I generally don't use the audible portion of the alarm at all. The clock comes with a little white pod, a little bigger than a cell phone, perhaps, but round like a saucer. It had a long, sturdy chord that plugs into the clock itself. You can put it under your mattress or in your pillow case. I find this the coolest, least annoying, most reliable way to wake up I've yet run across. Way better than lights that slowly turn on (they don't wake me up). The body seems hard wired to wake up fully alert when something nearby vibrates, but it isn't annoying like an alarm clock buzz.
The vibration pod does not need to be plugged in for the clock and audible alarm to work, so if you don't like the vibration, you're not stuck with it.
A word of caution: if you put the vibration pod in your pillowcase and the chord runs to the alarm clock, I could see potential for getting yourself wrapped up in it. Clearly it's not suitable for use with children, and if you toss and turn a lot, I would definately think about the ramifications of the chord. The easy solution, of course, is to put it under your mattress. The vibration is strong enough that it will wake you either way, in my opinion.

Curve Talking Clock Review

I have very poor vision. I also live in an area where power can go off at night.
So, I wanted an alarm clock that 1)Tells the time by talking to me, & 2)Is battery powered. This fits the bill nicely. I've had this one since the early 90's, & it's never failed me.
Oh, by the way: it does not use up the batteries fast. They last a good long time.
If this has been helpful, give me a vote.
