I bought this clock because of the lovely "gong" sound, which is in fact a nice way to wake up. Other than that, however, this clock is almost useless, unless you wake up every day at the same time and do nothing but set it once and turn off the alarm every morning. It is amazingly difficult to set and use - you must keep the instruction sheet nearby - if you ever misplaced it you would never remember how to change the settings. It has two buttons to push, and you push them for various lengths of time to cause different things to happen. It's very easy accidentally to hit a button and change the settings - we have done this several times, causing it to "gong" every 1/2 hour, and had to consult the instruction sheet to figure out how to stop it from doing that. Why it couldn't be as easy to use as other alarm clocks I can't imagine. I would never buy this clock again.

The Gong Alarm Clock is a wonderful alternative to those loud beeping and screeching alarm clocks. The gentle gong will ease you out of the sleep state and into the physical world. The highest volume level can awaken a deep sleeper and the lowest volume level is well suited for the light sleeper who wants a gentle awakening. However, if you are hearing impaired or have difficulty hearing high pitched sounds, this clock may not work for you. The Gong Alarm Clock is built to the perfect proportions of the Kheops Pyramid of Gizah, which Feng Shui specialists consider a source of powerful energy, stability, and balance. Two control buttons on either side of the display work in conjunction to set all the functions of the clock including: Setting the time, Setting the alarm, Turning the Snooze function On or Off, Setting the Clock to Gong every quarter-hour, half-hour, or top of the hour, and Setting the volume to one of three levels. The gong is a digital recording of a Gong Bowl played over a high-quality speaker inside the timer - no mechanical parts to fail. The sound quality is amazingly real! PLEASE NOTE: THE DISPLAY DOES NOT LIGHT UP. The Manufacturer says this has been designed as suchin order to conserve the batteries. This new version correctly displays 12-hour time (12:00 PM for noon and 12:00 AM for midnight as discussed in the customer reveiws). The new version also has a battery symbol to tell you when the batteries need replacing. The clock is about 5 square at the base (the size of a DVD) and 4-1/2 tall. Batteries Included - we even set the time to your Zone.
