It is amazing how she taught herself to lip read by hiding and looking in a mirror and watched her lips while reading a poem or just talking to herself. The humiliation and negativity that she endured by some family members; although they loved her dearly they did not know how to fully accept her hearing loss. This book should be made into a movie, her innocence and determination to live a normal life beyond silence is heartfelt as well as lesson to everyone.

Elometer returns from the hospital only to discover that she can no longer hear the voices of her friends and family. In fact, she can't hear anything at all.
